As part of my clinical counseling activities, I had to learn how to overcome the imprinting done to many of my patients who suffered from phobias and neurosis caused by the psychological abuse done to them by family, friends and community. I would like to talk about a special situation since the patient has long since passed away a euphemism for died and left no family or friends. Phobia is an extremely common anxiety disorder, which affects many people. The phobia can range from understandable to just plain weird, unusual and incomprehensible! However, now we can effectively treat phobia with hypnotherapy techniques designed to be individual-specific. Much of the treatment involves gradual exposure therapy, relaxation techniques, breathing techniques, cue-control relaxation and education about how phobia works. The results are very often even better than expected!

Ophidiophobia is known to be the fear of snakes. It comes from two greek words, “ophis” meaning snakes and “phobos”, which is fear in English. All animals have the natural instinct with regards to threat and dangers of the wild. Even humans have some kind of a natural behavior towards snakes, which is perhaps one of the reasons why there is such a thing as ophidiophobia. Of course, there are other exceptions to this kind of theory since many people are not afraid of snakes.
